Well hi there!

It's been a reaaallly long time since I've last posted here :) Been busy graduating, social life-ing, working and living (; heheee.

Anyhoo :) I've now decided that I'm going to use this blog space predominantly for displaying my photography. So.. expect to see many of the future blog posts filled with photos. (Not sure if I'm going to add many captions - some may have, some may not - let's see eh!)

So without further ado, enjoy the following collection of my ongoing photography! I'm going to try doing this in chronological order to the best of my ability. So... old work goes up first :) Enjoy!

The Excruciating Art Exam Process

Wowzie wowz :) Hello there, long time no post! Ah, finally mock exams have finished... and we're now all enjoying an extended weekend holiday celebrating Chinese New Year :) had family round and had a blast!

This seems way way past and outdated, but I'm going to do it anyway ;) I've been meaning to post up my Work-In-Progress documentation of my Art exam pieces - for those 2-3 weeks I slaved, literally - pulling all-nighters every other night. It drained the life out of me, and I almost went mad. HAHA! (Heading towards the ideal mad-artist state perhaps?) My entire 9-ft dining table was swamped with art. Art art art!

One time I stayed up from 2pm all the way until 8am the next day ... doing art.
Note to self.. REFRAIN FROM PULLING ALL NIGHTERS AGAIN!! Hahah :P

This whole lotta work took a lot of concentration and organisation of resources - materials, pictures, layouts and everything else under the art sun. It definitely made me realise Art is nothing simple and 'easy' as many people carelessly assume it to be. The whole exam project overall taught me perseverence - going beyond my comfort-zones and personal limits, through times when your eyelids feel like 50-tonne weights with your back feeling like it's going to snap any minute - and to fall back on nothing (Not my bed!) but my determination and drive to finish and get that bloody work done!

So without further a-do :) Here are the pictures resulting from me having a camera nearby (camouflaged somewhere upon the big marble surface) - documenting and recording each stage of the processes ;)

Our exam instructions require us to answer 2 questions (I chose Interpretative assignment: A COLOURFUL CELEBRATION, and Design assignment: FASHION DESIGN FOR "BIRD OF PARADISE" DANCE EXTRAVAGANZA THEME). We are then expected to incorporate our work into 2 A2 sheets per question, resulting in 4 sides being used for each, with a total of 4 sheets = 8 sides altogether for both questions.

It's actually pretty confusing for most people to understand at first, but after a while you get used to it ;)

NOTE: THESE ARE ONLY THE "PREP" PIECES (Which we were allowed to do at home)
- THE ACTUAL FINAL FINAL EXAM PIECES WE HAD TO DO IN SCHOOL (8 hours given per question LOL! 16 hours to do in school in total. 4 days...4 hours a day :'(! )
THE EXAM PIECES CAME OUT LOOKING MUCH BETTER THAN THE PREP PIECES! So I guess they all gradually improved ;) From First-trial => Prep => Final Exam piece.

The first topic I had chosen to do for my Interpretative assignment was "A COLOURFUL CELEBRATION". We had the freedom to expand and explore anything within that topic, so I immediately jumped at the chance to finally try out Native American art (of course ;)! )
The POWOW - which is a large gathering for all (both non-and-Native American) in order to honour and rejoice in the beautiful Native American culture - is what I decided to further study and develop into a hopefully-wonderful illustration :) POWOWs are well-known for their instrumental displays of traditional music and fantastic dancing competitions.

I was hoping I'd be able to capture the colour, emotion and movement of the specific dance - the "Fancy Shawl Dance", into my piece :D

2011 Here we COME!

1 hour 15 minutes until the end of 2010.

Man! It's gone by extremely fast...... I honestly feel like I fell asleep in January 2010 and woke up from a long long dream - and wahey! It's already 31st December. Unbelievable how time flies as you age... really. I remember the days when 1 year would feel like 5, and crawling around playing with toys on the floor could make an hour feel like forever.

I guess Time is nothing to be taken lightly! When elders tell you to live while you can... I now realise they bloody well mean it! Hahaha :)

Yet, even though being told this - we still have that drilled-in mindset to "wait for the right moment" for anything we're too wussy to get up and do ourselves. C'mon, don't look at me funny like that. You know what I'm talking about (; Whether it's actually getting off your seat and acting towards achieving that distant goal you've been dreaming about all this while; telling somebody how you really feel about them; or just sheer procrastination - we're all culprits of these at some point!

"Carpe diem" = Seize the day.

I see so many people put this as their Messenger status or favourite profile quotes. I guess favouriting something doesn't always mean applying it into our own lives huh ;D

Haha, but I can't really say anything - I'm a big procrastinator too! I really gotta admit. Therefore,

(even though I've told myself this countless times) I'M GOING TO TRY AND STOP (or at least lessen) PROCRASTINATION IN MY LIFE!

Yes... it may take time (maybe a year ;D) but if I keep this blog post and keep my little resolution in mind... hopefully I may just succeed at becoming a more active, efficient student and person with better time-management skills. :) One step closer to success! (hehehe...)

Agh who am I kidding. Knowing me, eliminating procrastination's gonna be a miracle. AHA!

ANYHOO. Besides this ... seeing as the whole getting-rid-of-procrastination-as-much-as-possible may be slightly more of a challenge - I've come up with another little new years resolution to tag along with it - probably more achievable ;)

To read more books!

I actually love reading very much, the only problem with me is that I tend to take a while to get into a book - it has to be a pretty damn interesting book to prevent me from reading half a page, putting it down and going off to do something else! (Enjoy collecting dust for the next 4 months there buddy...!) Although, sometimes it's not the book - it's just that I need to motivate myself to pick it up - and once I do, I can't put it down ;)

The reason why it occurred to me that I should begin reading books again was because, the other day, I found myself online reading an extract from a short fiction story - and to my surprise I felt the great pleasure of reading flow back to me again! That made me re-discover the joys of novels :)

So... 2011 - BRING ON THE BOOKS!

Hmm... so I guess for now my main 2 resolutions (which I plan to take very seriously! :S) are to improve my time-management, and to read more books :) Should be okay!

ANYHOO. Enough about me (; I found some cool pictures around the net again recently - and yes yes, even though this whole-reblogging-pretty-pictures trend has never really been my thing, I kinda do find it fun to share certain photos or posters that I find interesting and meaningful :)

So do enjoy! Perhaps these may inspire you to spark off some New Years Resolutions of your own ;) ...

I have a feeling I'm going to read this exact same post in a year or so's time... and I'll either think "DAMN, how long ago was THAT! Well, aren't I on a right blog-spree today ;) It's quite addictive!

I really shouldn't be doing this - it's currently 4AM. But anyhoo ;)

This time I'm just going to brighten up this space with a bit more colour.

Really. Usually I tell myself this - promise myself I'll just upload some pictures with a short caption or two, and then I end up writing biographies here. So :) I shall shut up now, and bring on the colour. Lately I've been browsing around and seeing lots of blogs re-blogging cool pictures of fashion, interesting subjects and whatnot. Thoughts on Christmas presents, Tomb Raider and everything in between!

Years ago, as a little girl during Christmas I always remember seeing myself surrounded by many little packages, boxes, parcels and presents - sent from friends and relatives overseas and local, addressed to dear 'Ms.' Ariane. Within minutes, there'd be a bulky heap of colourful, crumpled wrapping paper and ribbons on one side of the room, and sprawled across the other side of the room: lots of kiddy stationery (looooovee PAPER! notepads, fluffy pens, stamps and ink chops....you name it!), Barbie this and that, musical toys.............Ahh.....Childhood........ the age where one appreciated having millions of tiny knicky-knack things (that'd end up finding themselves unused and stashed up in the cupboards months later)

What I'm trying to say is, many people actually agree that when you're younger, you tend to receive more of a 'mass' of presents - with all of them being little accessory-things or multiple items put together into a collection; whereas when you're older, you find yourself saving up or being gifted one main expensive / more valuable present, compared to having many little little trinket-y bits and bobs. I don't know really, maybe this applies more to girls than boys. Maybe it's because the kiddy age is the time to be showered with flowery gifts and pressies - from relatives, aunties and uncles just anticipating to see your sweet little face light up when you rip open that wrapping paper to reveal the Barbie doll you've been waiting for all year (;

Damn, don't get me wrong though. Even I see myself almost sounding a tad bit spoiled here! Haha, but really. Some of us have been very very fortunate to have received lovely gifts - both aesthetic and heartfelt - during Christmas times and birthdays. However, some people in the world haven't received as much as others. Nonetheless, the most important thing is to appreciate the things we are really blessed to have, like a roof over our heads, a supportive, loving family, food, water, clothing, and all other necessities for survival in this mad world today.

Sometimes I watch 'My Sweet 16' on MTV, and...bloody hell. Now THAT is WAY over-the-top. Ballroom-sized venues filled with hundreds of so-called 'friends' ("Hey man, what's the birthday girl's name again?"), ostentatious decorations with live performances from famous stars, madly expensive outfits and dresses, a DAMN LOTTA WHINING to 'DADDYYY', and browsing around car-showrooms, looking at the latest BMW / Mercedes series and thinking twice.

Not thinking twice about the price, but about what would look better to match her new handbag. "Nooooo daddyyy, the Z4 is just ........ not as nice as this oneeeee!!!! DADDYY PLEEEASE I'M 16......I DESERVE BETTER!"

Bloody hell man, some people twice their age are still dreaming about (let alone actually buying) cars even cheaper and older than those. Yet, they still complain! Sigh... some people... I guess this world is filled with all sorts of extremes eh!

Bleh, anyway, on a lighter note. The past few months have been rather hectic for me, so I haven't had any time to see or find anything in particular which I could set my eye on for Christmas. To be honest, I don't really feel I need anything new in particular at the moment. Nothing luxurious, anyway.

However, during Christmas I was really pleasantly surprised when my parents presented to me a lovely gift box, inside: Jennifer Lopez's new fragrance: Still. I LOVE IT!

So yeah :) I'm really pleased with my little valuable gift right there. Something to bring fresh scents to 2011!

Apart from that ... like I said earlier, these days I really don't have anything particularly in mind at the moment. I mean, of course yes I'd love to go PS3 game shopping to my local Gaming store, but the little voice in the back of my mind is telling me not to even think about it - exams are drawing close! Can't afford to get distracted now. So, regarding PS3, I'll just anticipate for the new third-generation of PS3 games to be unleashed into the market ;) UNCHARTED 3, KILLZONE 3, and Assassin's Creed III Brotherhood - which has already come out LAST MONTH! But hey ;) Priorities first eh...!!!! EXAMS :'(
So far, I've finished playing the 2nd generation of these games already: Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, and Assassin's Creed II.

Apparently a new Tomb Raider game is coming out soon too, said to be "something completely new and very different" - according to Crystal Dynamics, compared to the previous games. Tomb Raider and the Guardian of Light, it's called.
Day by day, more new articles, reviews, forecasts and ratings are spewing out all over the internet about this emerging component of the Lara Croft Tomb Raider series.

Personally, I've always loved Tomb Raider games. The first one I played was on Playstation 2, Angel of Darkness. Man...let me tell you, the gameplay and controls were MUCH HARDER than the newer versions today - like Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Anniversary and so on. I highly doubt it was difficult only because I played it when I was around 8-9 years old; I definitely remember the ability to run, climb, jump, shoot and navigate properly were - in a way, much more stiff and, well, it made Lara feel very unflexible to play. Her movement was a lot more jiggy, unstable and not smooth at all! Like, if you pushed the analogue stick to a very slight tilt in attempt to walk CAUTIOUSLY towards the edge of a hiiiigghh building, she wouldn't move at all. THEN, when you try pushing just a liiittle bit more to nudge her to move, she'd just suddenly take a huge, brisk step over and WHOHOOOHHHH - There goes Lara falling into a dark Oblivion.

Overall it was a much slower-paced game (till where I played up to, at least) - and the graphics were of course not as great as today's. Nowadays, the gameplay is much smoother, easier to control and handle with intricate movements, jam-packed with more fast-paced action and lots more adventure! Even though I still haven't played the previous version of Tomb Raider Underworld for PS3, I hope to get both of these new games to play on PS3 very soon (after exams ;D)!

Another thing that interests me about Tomb Raider and the Guardian of Light is that, APPARENTLY, it features a "heavy Co-op element, both local and online, with Lara and her companion, Totec - a Mayan tribesman" WOW!!! I LOVE playing games with friends, and when I hear that TOMB RAIDER has CO-OP ?? WHOOOOLAKASHAKBLAKSLBKSJSKWAAHKAAAA .... Daaaaaamnnn this ought to be INTERESTING!

According to an article which I'm currently reading right now, it also states that the new installment may consist of a faster-paced gameplay, likely to contain more action than the typical slow-paced moments of swinging and climbing from wall-to-wall, and solving puzzles within tombs. Hopefully the designers have concocted a nice mix of the two - to produce a fantastic, mind-blowing new game!

Phew, alrighty - enough of the Tomb Raider spamming for now ;) I could practically go on all day about anything! But unfortunately I have my Geography textbook staring up at me right now...."Reeeadd meee......REEEAAAADDD MEEEEE...........MEMMOORIIIISEEEEE MEHHH........." Hmm.. Volcanoes and Tectonic activity............*Just think Lara Croft......tombs and volcanoes Whoo!* :)

So I guess I better sign off here now, and try to focus on the next chapter ;)

Regarding Tomb Raider and the Guardian of Light, I guess I'll just have to wait and see ...... *crosses fingers for an epic Tomb Raider Game of the Year!*

Late nights! Jolly Christmas! Golf caddies and EXAMS VS. TRYNA KEEP THIS BLOG ALIVE!

Heylo My dear readers (if anyone's actually there *looks over eagerly*-- OH HELLLO!!)

Quite mad I'm up writing this really. I'm in the midst of nearing big-exam month very very soon... trying to research Native American culture for my Art exam preparation, and here I am - 2:26AM writing this blog post. (No, this blog's not dead yet! I'm gonna try to keep this thing ALIIIIIIVEEE ;D)

Funny really, because: 1.) From looking at this blog overall so far, it appears rather evident I'm fascinated by the wonderful Native American culture ;) if you refer back to my previous post on me dressing up as Pocahontas, that is!

and 2.) I speak as if 2AM is late for me - mad enough, throughout this holiday my latest bed-time has been around 5AM+ .... so.......yea...................a lot of non-existent jet-lag I'm setting up for myself here... :P

But hey - it's the holidays, you know (; ? We don't get to max out our nights and stretch the bedtimes till this late during school weeks! but then again.... the workload stretches us really....

OH YEAH! Another thing. (How could I forget??!) CHRISTMAS!!! Merry Christmas 2010 :) Yesterday (well since it's 2AM... let's make that 2 days ago ;D) I had a lovely time seeing all of my extended family again, with yummy dinners and fantastic house parties. I held one over here too - and this has been the very first proper house party we've had in our house since we've moved in! Complete with lovely dinner catering...full-out warm Christmas decorations... creating a perfect ambiance for celebration!

Over the weekend I also had my first proper GOLF lesson. Believe it or not - I myself can't believe I'm actually saying this but ... even though I've always seen Golf as a hella boring sport on TV, it's actually really fun to play! My dad and I met up with my cousins and they all taught me the basics. I'm still getting the hang of it ... so... I need a lot more practice before I can challenge em' yet! ;)

The best part of the day for me was probably driving the Golf caddy. YEAH! May sound pretty n00by but the most I've ever driven so far have been Bumper cars ... a Jet-Ski ... ATV (All-Terrain-Vehicle) and probably virtual video game cars at most ;)

It was damn fun! My dad taught me how to brake, switch to reverse mode, place it into Park mode, and in no time I was steady-crooooooozziinn.... Yeah ;) Glad I played lots of car-racing video games over the years... it really does help improve judgement you know! Hahaha. Gaming does have its benefits. ;) So yeah! Definitely gonna try one of those again... Golf caddies are da bomb...

Apart from that :) just thought I'd (sadly attempt to) make a quick update on this space of mine right here. Yup... it's slowly developing .... HOPEFULLY after I've gotten these big exams over and done with ... I'll have more time to fill this place up with more SHAZAMBOOMSHAKALAKARANGAHA! Yea... that's right..... ;)!!

Pocahontas for Character Parade!

Damnit, for the past half-hour I've been trying to search "How to say 'HELLO' in the Algonquian language". No luck so far!

So I'm just going to say it normally - HELLO :) .

If you have absolutely no idea what 'Algonquian' is, it's a form of Native American language :) and the reason why I'm into this now is because, school's holding a 'Character Parade'. This is where we can come to school dressed up as a character from a book or story, go on stage and brief the student-body about our history and personality - all while in-character (;

So guess who I'm going as ;) Yep! POCAHONTAS.

Apart from being the nature-freak I'm well-known as amongst my peers, I chose to be Pocahontas because I happen to (very luckily) have a wonderful chiffon dress which apparently resembles her very much. The last time I wore the dress was to a school dance - my intentions were completely un-Pocahontasey. I didn't actually intend to come looking like her at the time - and to my surprise everyone piped up saying I looked very much like her!

Hm, I thought. Seeing how I was wearing a golden stringy necklace along with Cleopatra-style eyeliner, I thought I might've come across looking like more of the Egyptian Queen herself. However, my friends all felt otherwise!

Despite the lack of dream-catchers hanging across my neck, feathers poking out of my hair, peacock feathers dangling from my ears and a raccoon over my shoulder, I still managed to resemble Pocahontas. Woah - that dress really must've looked the part then!

So once this Character Parade was introduced recently, 'Pocahontas!' came to minds straight away. Plus, I think she's rather cool. I think all Native Americans are cool. WAY cool! Have you seen their artwork? Their cultural outfits are astounding too. Absolutely amazing. I just love the whole idea of being free, one-with-nature, connecting spiritually and living in harmony with our environment and the animals we share it with - a peaceful way of life.

So yes, I'm definitely verrryy excited about how the day is going to go. It's the day after tomorrow (Friday) ! I've already put together and tried my outfit on - it looks great to me ;) !

Can't wait.

Damn. Now I've got the 'You can paint with all the colours of the wind' song stuck in the back of my head now. Oh well ;) something calming to put me to sleep hehe! It's 12:34AM right now. Best be off to bed!

Come in! Come in. Here, let me take your cyber-coat. You look rather chilly coming from your previous website! Haha no worries there, I'll put some tea on right away. Have a seat in the armchair by the fireplace, won't you? Warm yourself up! Now, I hope you don't mind Earl Grey - it's the only tea I've got stocked in the cupboards at the moment. Though... come to think of it, I may actually have some coffee sachets left - would you prefer that?

Ah, nice choice my friend :) My personal favourite, too.

Nawh, who am I kidding - I don't even DRINK coffee or tea ;)!

So, anyway - How are you doin?!

I assume, coming to my cosy little blog here, that you know who I am. If you don't, well then it's very nice to meet you! - I'm Ariane :)

I've decided to start this blog for numerous reasons.

Becoming aware of the fact that many people from fields of my interest keep blogs - namely, individuals in the media industry- I've realised that it's possible to reap many rewards from maintaining a blog.

You can share and gain knowledge about current news and topics of interest, build and gain an audience / hoards of followers *crosses fingers*, establish it into a news-central or perhaps another photography gallery. I think writing blogs can also help one develop a heightened level of self-awareness and improvement in written-speech, on top of self-realisation too. To be honest, I definitely think I need to read more and start writing more too! I've read some great blogs and dayum, some people write good!

Otherwise, a blog could simply serve the purpose of just letting interested /busybody friends be informed of what you're up to these days. Perhaps this one will remain at that level - the phailed-attempts of a teenage girl trying to finally kickstart a blog of her own.

Either way, I guess only time will tell what this blog will flourish into :) A page for news? fashion? photography? environmental issues? daily life?!

Anyway, here are a few things I plan to fill this bloggie up with (what I have in mind at the moment, at least!) :

I absolutely loooove photography. I've been playing around with cameras for years, and have several galleries floating around the internet galaxy. So, I thought this would be a great way to regularly update and share my 'art' with you guys! (Touch wood...let's just hope I keep up with it eh (; ! ) Having all my pictures in one main place is much more convenient and reliable than having several scattered here and there.

As a matter of fact, I've secret-ninja-stealthily hidden a piece of my photography in this actual post!

Another thing is that I'm known to be quite opinionated at times ;) and I figured having a silly flair to talk for hours about almost anything could come in handy when it comes to discussing various issues at hand :D Be it political issues, environmental issues (which I'm extremely passionate about!), issues within society/social culture, everyday issues, movie/book/media reviews, or any other subjects that I find interesting - I'm willing to write, blog and yabber about it all here! This is another intrinsic point why I've created this blog - to share things I find wonderful and interesting, discuss issues at hand, reason with them and flavour them with some humour and personal opinions (;

I've noticed some very artistic fashion-oriented blogs lately as well, and I find them interesting...very interesting :) Especially the photography aspect of it all!

Fashion photography has really inspired me lately - and I've become tempted to try some fashion shoots with my own friends too. The trends of outfits, hairstyles, make-up and accessories flowing in and out of style has really fascinated me - creativity and imagination really do flourish in that industry! So I'm definitely very interested in this field too at the moment, and am keen to explore further into it slowly.

Who knows - soon you may see a new blog post filled with fashion photography attempts by moi! So stay tuned for them!

Now, zooming back into the present moment - currently I'm really quite bomfrazzledidated (I'm already loving blogging - the freedom of speech AND use of silly words :D!) with a lot of school events, biiiig examinations coming up ahead and lots more to do. Therefore, sad to say but I may not be as efficient to update this little space as much as I'd like to be.

Nevertheless, I definitely WILL try my very best with my best possible efforts in my very best of attempts to keep you updated *pant pant* the best I can ;) (If I feel like it! Mwahahahaa) Nawwhh I've always got something interesting to share :D And as long as I know I have people willing to lend an eye to read, and an ear to hear - I'm willing to write and talk, and laugh and cheer! (Rhyme wheeeee :D)
